Mirco Matarante, an artist and designer, lives and works in the Itria Valley. His academic training has led now to mainly experimental research, ranging from sculpture and painting to installations. However, he maintains a particular bond with modelling pottery, which he imbues with an unconventional interpretation of reality and its contradictions, in a manner often close to pop and kitsch culture.
In a disconcerting reversal of perspective, consumer society is forced to come to terms with itself. Small towns within a town, immersed in ash and at the mercy of gigantic hands, warn us about our habits. The environment and urban space can only be respected through restoration of a world on a human scale.
